Adding New Packages

Packages are an essential part of Greater Giving Online. Packages are sold to your Supporters, so in order for a successful auction to take place you need to have Packages! Packages are broken up into four basic types: Auction, Donation, Sponsorship, and Admission. These different types determine what kind of sale they will make, and whether or not they need Items included in them. Auction packages will almost always have an Item in them. Packages with Items in them are typically created by viewing your Items, and using the Assign Items to Package or Create Single item Package features. Packages without Items are created by viewing your Packages, selecting Add, and filling in the appropriate fields. Below we have walkthroughs of both ways of adding a package. 

Creating a Package with Items: Method 1

  1. From the Project Home, select View/Edit Items under the Items header.
  2. In the Package column of the Items grid you can see which items are assigned to packages and which are not. You can also use the Assigned to Package field in the Advanced Search to find all items not currently in a package.
  3. Click the checkbox to select one or more unassigned items and then click the Create Single Item Packages button in the toolbar.
  4. A popup message appears asking you to confirm that you want to create new single item packages for each item selected. You have the option of listing the Item name in the description and restrictions of the package. Click OK to create the package(s).



Creating a Package with Items: Method 2 

  1. From the Project Home, select View/Edit Items under the Items header.
  2. Click the checkbox to select one or more unassigned items and then click the Assign Items to Package button.
  3. Click Assign to a new Package and type a New Package Name.
  4. You may choose SectionClass, and Value Type from the drop-down lists.
  5. By default, the new package’s description will be generated by combining all of the descriptions of all the items included in the package. If you wish to include the item’s name in the package’s description above the item’s description, you can choose the Also include the Items' name in the Package's description and restriction fields option.


Creating a Package without Items: 

Sponsorship, Donation, and Admission Packages contain no items. Certain Auction Packages may contain no items; however that is typically not the case. 

  1. From your Project Home, click View/Edit Packages under the Packages header.
  2. Click the Add button.
  3. Select a Package Type. The page changes depending on your choice.
    • For Sponsorship, select a Sponsorship Level to determine how it appears on your website (lower number appears higher on the list), and for Seats Purchased, type the number of admissions included with this sponsorship if any. Enter a Value, and a Price.
    • For Donation, set the Tax Rate, Value, and Price. Because it is a donation the value is typically $0.0
    • For Admission, set the Tax Rate and the number of Seats Purchased, as well as a Value and a Price.
  4. Type a Package Name.
  5. For all package types, select or unselect Show in Catalogs.
  6. Fill in the Package Description and Restriction.
  7. Add any Images if you have them.
  8. Click Save to save your Package, or Save and Add New to add another one!
