Getting Started: Entering Data

Part of using the Greater Giving Online software to the fullest extent involves entering data into the database. This consolidates your information into a single spot, and simplifies your record keeping by having it all conveniently located. Entering data can be done manually, via spreadsheet, or using one of our Online forms.

Note: You will need the User Permission to Edit the appropriate area in order to enter data.

Items:
Items will form the backbone of an auction, and are important to recognize your Donors. Items can be:

  1. Manually entered by Adding an Item.
  2. Imported via a spreadsheet by Importing Items.
  3. Imported via Import Online Donations, using an Item Donation Page.

Packages:
Packages are what is sold to your Supporters, and necessary for any event. Packages can be:

  1. Manually entered by Adding a Package.

Payments:
Payments are the other half of Sales. They reflect money given to you by your Supporters. Payments can be:

  1. Manually entered by Adding a Payment.
  2. Created automatically by Charging a Batch.
  3. Imported via Import Online Registrations, using a Registration Page.

Sales:
Sales are Packages that your Supporters have added to their record, paid for with Payments. Sales can be:

  1. Manually entered by Adding a Sale.
  2. Added during your event through Go Time’s Enter Sales.
  3. Imported via a spreadsheet by Importing Sales.
  4. Imported via Import Online Registrations, using a Registration Page.

Supporters:
Supporters are your constituents, your donor base, anyone involved with your Organization. Supporters can be:

  1. Manually entered by Adding a Supporter.
  2. Imported via a spreadsheet by Importing Supporters.
  3. Imported via Import Online Registrations, using a Registration Page.
